During the months of May and June, the Gunnedah Town Hall is filled with the sound of music, as talented musicians and performers from across the region take part in the annual Gunnedah Eisteddfod.
For the past six decades, the tireless volunteers of the Gunnedah Eisteddfod Committee have organised the Eisteddfod, which continues to showcase generations of local talent in song, dance, verse and music.
The highly-acclaimed and well respected Eisteddfod has been running since 1953, when the curtain rose on a venture which drew just 200 entries and lasted one day and one night. Since then, this important event on Gunnedah's cultural calendar has grown tremendously, with the event now running over a program-packed 13 days.
The Gunnedah's Annual Eisteddfod has developed a reputation as the "friendly Eisteddfod", due largely to the strong emphasis that the Eisteddfod committee has placed on finding adjudicators who are able to offer sound advice to the young performers, in order to help them grow and shine as musicians and performing artists.
