In Local Government Week, we like to invite people to become more familiar with Council's facilities and services and to come along to some of the free activities offered during the week.
There are the essential services that everyone expects from Local Government such as town planning, waste disposal, road maintenance, parks and gardens, sporting facilities and public amenities.
Councils are also responsible for maintaining libraries, swimming pools, cemeteries, animal control, weed control, community events, tourism and visitor information.
In Gunnedah we also operate services for youth, frail aged and disabled people and community transport and we run the Saleyards and The Civic Centre with its cinema, live theatre and art gallery.
Some fun filled activities on offer for Local Government Week are history walks, competitions, movies and lucky door prizes.
