There’s plenty going on in the Library this week!
Monday, 4 September saw the launch of the Library’s eSmart status, making the Library an information hub of cyber safety and information. Come along if you have any queries about websites or devices, and how to handle life in the information age. The Library has plenty of books about dealing with devices, guiding children through Internet usage, and there are even picture books for beginner readers to introduce them to the digital world.
We have a booklist of materials the Library holds, an information sheet on evaluating websites for the validity of information, and a list of cyber safety websites - many with interactive games that entertain as well as inform. The Library also has updated copies of The Little Black Book of Scams available to give away. This booklet is ‘a pocket-sized guide so you can spot, avoid, and protect yourself against scams’.
This week is also Adult Learner’s Week, and there’s no better place than a Library in which to pursue a new hobby or learn something new. Use the computers to view YouTube clips on your new hobby, or simply borrow books or magazines on your chosen topic. New books added to the collection this week include, Hello Cupcake! Irresistibly playful creations anyone can make – mouth-watering photos and easy to follow directions; Storing and preserving garden produce – no colour photos, but plenty of easy recipes and common sense ideas; and Great Australian Cars - a coffee table-sized book full of colour photos and information about cars from the 1950s to the 1970s.
It is also CWA Awareness Week, and the Gunnedah CWA have decorated the display cabinet with examples of their work, so come on in and see the work that these ladies do for the community!
See you soon at the Library!
