September is Dementia Awareness Month, and the library, in collaboration with Community Care, is hosting a two hour event to heighten awareness of dementia. The event kicks off with a healthy morning tea, followed by a guest speaker, Trish Shumacher, Diversional Therapist, who will speak about such topics as brain health, the importance of socialisation, non-dominant hand exercises and other brain stimulating activities.
This talk will be followed by the library’s Monday morning brain training which includes activities such as join the dots, word puzzles, memory skills and spot the difference. The session will close at 12.00pm with twenty minutes of meditation.
Everyone is welcome to attend. Please phone the library on 6740 2190 or Jenni at Community Care on 6740 2252. Please note that places for the brain training activities are limited and people who have booked will be assured of a place for these enjoyable and brain stretching activities.
